DPO3000/MSO3000 and DPO4000/MSO4000: How do I set the oscilloscope so that the screenshot will be sent to the USB or Ethernet port?

Question :

DPO3000/MSO3000 and DPO4000/MSO4000: How do I set the oscilloscope so that the screenshot will be sent to the USB or Ethernet port?

Answer :

In most of our oscilloscopes, when automating acquiring a screenshot, there are several pieces of information needed, including which port the screenshot are sent to. This was done (for example in the TDS3000 series) using these programming commands:

HARDCOPY:FORMat <PCX, PCXcolor, PNG, BMPColor, etc.>
HARDCOPY:INKSAVER <ON, OFF>
HARDCOPY:LAYout <LANdscape, PORTRait>
HARDCOPY:PORT <RS232, GPIB, ETHERNET>
HARDCOPY START

In the DPO4000/MSO4000 and DPO3000/MSO3000 series, the port command is no longer necessary, and a few of the other commands have changed. If you send the HARDCOPY START command to the oscilloscope using USB, then the screenshot will be sent to the USB port. If you send the command to the oscilloscope using Ethernet, then the screenshot will be sent to the Ethernet port. The process is now fully automatic.

In order to set up automated screenshots, use the following commands, of course substituting the parameters that you need:

SAVe:IMAGe:FILEFormat <PNG, BMP, TIFf>
HARDCOPY:INKSAVER <ON, OFF>
HARDCOPY:LAYout <LANdscape, PORTRait>
HARDCOPY START
