Can I sink 0.5mA at the analog out from an active low input device with a KUSB-3100 Series module?

Question :

Can I sink 0.5mA at the analog out from an active low input device with a KUSB-3100 Series module?

Answer :

Product(s):

USB Modules: KUSB-3100 Series: KUSB-3102, KUSB-3108, KUSB-3116,

Question:In your KUSB-3102, KUSB-3108, KUSB-3116 specifications, it states that the analog output current =+/- 5mA minimum(10V / 2KOhms).Can you briefly explain?I have an application where I want to use one of the analog outputs to set 0 or 5 V to switch another circuit on and off.The other circuit input is Active Low (0 V), and internally pulled up to 5 V through a 10K resistor. Is the 0.5 mA sink a safe value for the analog output pin?

Answer:The output amplifiers will supply +/-5 mA.Typically it is 10V / 2K = 5mA but anything lower than the 10 volts will also drive the 5mA.0.5mA is a safe value in all conditions.
