I plugged in a data acquisition board into the PC and the board does not respond. What is wrong?

Question :

I plugged in a data acquisition board into the PC and the board does not respond. What is wrong?

Answer :

One possible problem is that the board's base address is incorrect. Make sure that any base address switches that are on the board are set correctly and that your program references the same base address. If your board is plug-and-play compatible, make sure the assigned base address is a valid address. If the base address is set correctly, make sure no other computer device is using any of the I/O locations beginning at the specified base address. Another possible cause is that the chosen interrupt level is incorrect. Again, make sure that no other computer device is using the same interrupt level specified in your program. Lastly, make sure the board is correctly aligned in the card slot of the PC. The card must be seated properly in the socket and making good electrical connection with the socket.
