With all black offsets set to zero (NVRAM initialized)+ the black 3+ 4+ 5 and 6 outputs are 34 degrees of (PAL) subcarrier ahead of outputs 1 and 2. Is this normal? Shouldn't they be aligned as a default?

Answer :

The timing of the blacks 3, 4, 5, 6 are done on a clock period basis only. They do not have the sub-nanosecond timing resolution of the black 1 and 2 signals, and can therefore be slightly off when a complete reset is done. This is normal for the design of the instrument. Use a black 3, 4, 5, or 6 as a reference, then time everything to it.
