Barco Air Traffic Management Selects Tektronix Oscilloscopes for Life Critical Design Work

BEAVERTON, Ore., June 07, 2005 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK) a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that the Air Traffic Control Business Unit of Barco N.V. has selected Tektronix' oscilloscope and probing solutions to support the development of complex high-speed designs for the air traffic management marketplace.
Barco is a recognized international leader and pioneer in the design, development and manufacturing of real-time graphics display systems and software components for air traffic control. Much of its testing activity is conducted in a laboratory environment and requires instrumentation with leading specifications and all around capabilities in high frequency applications. Following extensive evaluation of several product offerings from different companies, Barco chose the Tektronix TDS7704B Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope (DPO) and 8GHz P7380 Z-Active™ high performance probe solution.

The TDS7704B is used to solve demanding high-speed measurement problems in communications, computing, and other advanced electronic applications. With 7-GHz bandwidth, the TDS7704B acquires signals with excellent fidelity. The TDS7704B provides an advanced SiGe triggering system optimized for debugging signal anomalies and glitches that are less than 110 ps, event qualification and extremely low trigger jitter of less than 1.2 ps RMS (typical) for accurate signal capture. The DPO's waveform capture rate (more than 400,000 waveforms per second) powered by exclusive DPX® acquisition technology, is orders of magnitude better than existing digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs) in delivering faster accumulation of signal data for both critical insight into signal behavior and in-depth analysis.
The order was secured by C.N. Rood N.V./S.A., the Tektronix distributor for Belgium. Working closely with Barco over a long period of time has helped C.N.
